So none of the taller folks liked the Fractal Refine 2? What a shame, I was about to buy it.
Feedback from an actual short person (5ft2), so it’s not just guesswork. Getting the right size chair is more than just the seat depth and height. It’s the armrests as well which always seem to get overlooked. Avoid Herman Miller. The Aeron sizing is awful. Size A fits the best IF you only sit upright. If you lean back a bit or recline at all, the out of date frame will dig completely into your lower shoulder blades/scapula. You could fix this by going up to size B, but you don’t get the same “fits like a glove”
feeling you get from the A. Also the armrest adjustment becomes an issue, because once again, HM are out of date and have pathetic adjustments. You’re arms flair out rather than resting properly. An optional headrest would fit just fine, so ignore that advice from Dan.
I’d also avoid the Mirra 2. Looks fantastic and should’ve been the solution to the Aeron sizing problem, but the armrests are genuinely one of the worst I’ve used. They feel so cheap that you’re wondering how they have the audacity to charge so much. The adjustment is even worse than the Aeron as well. The steelcase chairs aren’t comfortable when you actually have them at home, and to be honest they just look so boring.
I settled on the Libernovo SE. I did need a footrest as the chair doesn’t go low enough (just bought some cheap £5 one), but everything else about the chair is great considering the price. I don’t use the full recline feature enough, so that wouldn’t be a reason to buy the chair, but the adjustments are fantastic (other than the lumbar) and one of the best you’ll get on any chair. The headrest is by far the best you’ll get on any chair, including Atlas. The armrests could use more cushioning, and the lumbar needs a proper rework. Also the seat cushioning, even with the updated one isn’t the most comfortable or plush, but I do manage to sit in the chair for 8–10+ hours a day so credit to Libernovo. At this price it’s a no brainer.
Is it possible to remove the headrest from the gaming fern and change it for a 3rd party headrest? I like the leather seat but the headrest does look bad
ffs… im just on the search for a chair and this video got into my recommendation… now Im just more confused.
So Imma heavy dude working and gaming… currently rocking a noblechair hero and now im kinda want a new one.
