I cover the 24/7 monitoring with six backup stations, the touchscreen keypad, Google Nest camera integration with two-way talk, and smart home features like Z-Wave compatibility for locks, lights, and thermostats.

I break down the pros (reliable monitoring, easy-to-use panel, Nest Aware included, add unlimited cameras without extra fees) and the cons (no power-over-ethernet for cameras, need two separate apps). If you’re considering ADT, this review will help you decide if it’s the right fit.

  1. ADT IS A FRAUD-I signed up for ADT services primarily to help me care for my mother, not because I was worried about burglars. My mother is 84 years old, and while I’m at work, I need to be able to check on her through the cameras.

After almost three months of dealing with ADT because the installation was never completed, they had already sent four different technicians to my home, and after two and a half months, the system was still not fully installed.

I asked them, “How can you expect me to pay for a service that you haven’t even finished installing?” Their response was that I had to wait for another technician.

At that point, I said, “You know what? If it has already been two and a half months and you still haven’t completed the installation, I want to cancel my contract because you have not provided the service you promised.”

Their answer was: “Your contract says you still have to pay.”

And my response was: “But doesn’t the contract also say that YOU have to fulfill your obligations?”

Basically, their position was: whether they fulfill their part of the agreement or not, if I cancel, I still have to pay.

So my advice is: look for smaller, independent security companies that actually care about their customers. My experience with ADT has been terrible. What they are doing feels like a fraud. A contract should create obligations for both sides—not only for the customer. THIS IS A FRAUD

  2. They told me I have to pay about $5 for every additional camera I add. It might have changed recently. But I do like the Google cameras.
