Understand the real differences between SSD vs NVMe vs M.2 and stop confusing storage form factors with connection protocols.
Many users confuse these terms when upgrading their PC storage. SSD refers to the technology, while M.2 defines the physical storage form factor, and NVMe is the communication method. We clarify how these categories overlap, specifically explaining how an M.2 drive can use either older SATA vs NVMe protocols.
By separating these concepts, you can confidently choose the right hardware for your system. We focus on how these specifications impact real-world performance, making it easier to read spec sheets for your next computer hardware upgrade without getting lost in marketing jargon.

I have a Chuwi Gemibook Plus, and want to increase storage capacity from 256gb, to at least a Teribite. But Chuwi’s have components that are welded onto the thing, so I ordered an M.2 NVMe enclosure two days ago. Now I am learning about 2230’s, and looking at an AGI and an Intel SSD, both 1 Teribite. I produce music, draw and make animated videos, so I gotta have at least 1 TB of space to start taking orders from clients.🎉
Hack your firmware. I got a great improvement, that I did not expect.
I run Linux, so that changes the game somewhat.!
